Welcome to the Church of Pentecost Website

We are so happy that you are visiting The Church of Pentecost web site today! We realize that there are many churches in Castle Rock that you could have taken interest in today, so we are most happy you chose to visit our website.

Our pastor is licensed with the United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI). If you are not familiar with Pentecost in general or with the UPCI in particular, please visit the UPCI's webpage explaining more about the UPCI organization and our missions outreach.

We have existed in Castle Rock since December 31, 1983. We are a close -knit and family oriented in our approach to fellowship.

We offer free home Bible studies for singles or families, as well as youth activities.

What We Teach

The doctrine we hold is that which was proclaimed since the earliest days of Christ's Church. First that Jesus is the visible expression of the invisible God (Col 1:15), and that in Him dwells all of God in a human body (Col 2:9). The reason that God incarnated Himself in flesh (the Son) was to provide salvation. The offer of salvation made available by God's Sovereign Grace is acted upon by man through repentance, water baptism in Jesus' name, and by receiving the baptism of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:28). The doctrine of the early church, along with many other topics is covered in the Search for Truth home Bible study that we offer.

Pastor's Message to the True Seeker

Those who do not actively pursue spiritual things are allowing their spiritual senses to become deadened.

“He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.” Matt 13:11

Why is understanding given to some and withheld from others? The answer lies in what people do with their spiritual senses.

“And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.” Matt 13:14-15

When people refuse to walk in the light they have been given, they are hardening their hearts, dulling their ears, and closing their eyes. Not only is God unable to provide further light but also eventually even the light they have will be removed. But there is a blessing for those whose hearts, ears, and eyes remain opened.

“But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.” Matt 13:16-17

God takes from the have-nots and gives to the haves. God takes from those who close their hearts, ears, and eyes to further truth and gives to those who are still hungry and desire to understand more truth. This is an important principle of the kingdom of heaven. I call this the law of the hungry heart.

The prophets and righteous men of the Old Testament could not see and hear these things because it was not time for the Savior to come to the world. But in Jesus’ days those who could not understand these parables could not see and hear these principles because their hearts were not hungry for spiritual things.

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” Matt 5:6

The reason Jesus taught His deepest truths about the kingdom of heaven through parables is veil the truth to some while revealing it to others. Those who had hardened their hearts, dulled their spiritual ears, and closed their spiritual eyes could not understand these truths. But those who were hungry for more of God grasped the truth the others could not see.

Truth is a very precious thing. Your ability to grasp truth depends on the condition of your heart.

“Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.” Prov 23:23

The transaction to purchase truth will cost you your pride. Truth must be invested in. Truth must be valued or Satan will discover the selling price. Many who have truth do not value it and are willing to sell out if Satan offers them something they value more. When one is willing to bargain with the enemy for truth, God’s light will move on to another.

“For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.” Matt 13:12

I've tried Bible straight through on my own: difficult. Church:hard to put in context as pastor (understandably) chooses texts he wants in his order. With this app I'm reading it "thematically" and thoroughly enjoying following events in order. Much better context and understanding for me.

I really love this app! I love that it has the ©1984 version instead of the more recent version of niv. We use the ©1984 version at my school so it has been hard finding a good app that allows me to read it in the proper version. This app does! Love it!❤️

TEAM UPDATE: ASSISTING VICTIMS IN TABONTABON, PHILIPPINES

We're proud to share that we have heard from our medical team in the Philippines via Satellite Phone. Here's what they wanted us to share with all of you:

We have no cell signal where we are at right now, please let our families know that we are safe.

Here is how our trip has gone so far: We flew from Seoul Korea to Cebu, then took a 5 hour boat ride to Ilogos, then took a truck to the city of Baybay. We were able to stay with the Mayor of Baybay for a night. He then provided us with an armed security detail and a 3 truck caravan to the devastated city of Palo and then we traveled to the city of Tanauan where we met the Mayor of Tabontabon who asked us to come to his town. Tabontabon is approximately 20 miles south to town of Palo. We met a medic here that has had no international assistance and has been treating approximately 100 people a day, so they're very glad we are here. We are staying in a room at the local school house nearby and are prepared to treat another 100+ people today.

TODAY A MEDICAL STRIKE TEAM IS ENROUTE TO BAYBAY, PHILIPPINES

Following up from our clean water initiative with Waves for Water our Intel on the ground told us that medical support was imminent.

Reach Out WorldWide sent a team of trained medical professionals and first responders to an area desperately in need of aid. The team will arrive in Cebu and take a ferry to the city of BayBay where over 100,000 have been affected. Thanks to the help of locals we have identified the only functional hospital in over 10 towns where we will set up a clinic. From there the team will venture out into the surrounding areas to assist victims.

Given this area is very remote we may only have satellite phone communication with the team on the ground but we will do our best to keep the updates coming and keep people informed. Thank you for your interest and for continuing to support ROWW.

REACH OUT WORLDWIDE JOINS FORCES WITH WAVES FOR WATER TO HELP VICTIMS OF SUPER TYPHOON HAIYAN.

The total destruction of the largest storm ever recorded is still unknown but is expected to be catastrophic.

Reach Out WorldWide is reacting quickly to provide help to people in the Philippines. We have initiated a deployment with Waves For Water to address imminent needs and provide approximately 20,000 people access to clean water.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has a strong impact on the economy of the State of Illinois. From coal mining to agriculture to tourism, the economic effects of IDNR activities reach statewide. Activities associated with IDNR support 90,000 jobs and at least $32 billion worth of economic impact annually. IDNR activities and functions outlined below also support state government’s most important priorities: the economic well-being of Illinois citizens, the protection of lives and property, the protection of our most vulnerable citizens, providing quality education and opportunity, improving government efficiency and stability, and improving the quality of life of all Illinoisans.
Office of Land Management - Improved Quality of Life of Citizens/Economic Well-being of Citizens
Manages and maintains 324 state-owned and leased state parks, fish and wildlife areas, state forests, state trails, natural areas and recreational sites; with 45 million visits annually, these sites contribute nearly $1 billion in visitor spending and support 8,500 jobs statewide. Outdoor recreation opportunities such as boating, camping, fishing, hunting, picnicking, sightseeing, wildlife observation, swimming and trail use create a $3.2 billion annual economic impact in Illinois, supporting 33,000 jobs statewide. The recreational opportunities we provide, in great part, help address child obesity and other pressing health conditions in Illinois.
Office of Law Enforcement - Protection of Lives and Property/and our Most Vulnerable Citizens
Illinois Conservation Police have full, statewide police powers, spending 160,000 man-hours protecting Illinoisans, many in underserved areas and on Illinois waters. 35,000 citations/warnings are issued yearly, generating revenue of more than $500,000. CPOs strictly enforce Illinois firearms and FOID laws, including safe transportation and use. CPOs are members of the Illinois Terrorism Task Force, are involved in Homeland Security efforts, drug prevention operations, and environmental enforcement. CPOs serve as front-line disaster relief and search and rescue responders. CPOs activated for the February blizzard rescued or assisted 550 stranded motorists and have executed hundreds of rescues during past flooding events.
Office of Mines and Minerals - Protection of Lives and Property/Economic Well-being of Citizens
Oversees the Abandoned Mines Land Reclamation program, mine safety, oil and gas safety and responsible permitting, as well as mine blasting and explosives. Responsibly regulates mining and oil and gas production which sustains 50,000 jobs and $6 billion of annual production. Approved mine permits from January 2009 to the present will mean more than 800 new jobs. Expansions of six existing mines approved during the last two years mean retention of nearly 2,000 coal mine employees. Safety initiatives and enforcement protect miners and the public, as Illinois has the lowest fatality rate per tons of coal mining of any coal-producing state.
Office of Water Resources - Economic Well-being of Citizens/Protection of Lives and Property
Oversees the Lake Michigan water allocation program which supplies 330 billion gallons of water annually, serving 7 million people in over 200 communities, sustaining homes, businesses and the regional economy of northeast Illinois. Administers the state water supply in the Carlyle, Shelbyville, Rend and Kinkaid reservoirs, supporting more than $10 billion in downstate economic activity. Protects 4.4 million acres of land by ensuring the sufficiency of engineering designs of levees and levee modifications under the IDNR’s regulatory oversight protecting approximately 1 million acres of agricultural land valued at $5.6 billion and $543 million in annual commodities. Regulates construction in the floodways of rivers and streams and shore waters of Lake Michigan and all other Illinois public waters. Coordinates the National Flood Insurance Program saving Illinois citizens $1.2 million in reduced premiums on 11,000 policies.
Office of Coastal Zone Management - Economic Well-being of Citizens/Improved Quality of Life of Citizens
As the trustee of Lake Michigan, administers the Coastal Zone Management Program channeling federal dollars to protect Lake Michigan’s natural resources. Administers the Great Lakes Restorative Initiative which provides environmental cleanup, habitat and wetland restoration, and invasive species protection. The Lake Michigan coastline supports billions of dollars in trade and supports property values among the highest in the nation.
Illinois State Museum - Quality Education and Opportunity
Six educational facilities throughout the state annually attract more than 321,000 individuals, including urban and underserved rural populations, 6,300 teachers and 36,000 students from across the state, international tourists. Serves an additional 93,000 students and other individuals through off-site programs. More than 2.3 million online visitors, including teachers, students, and individuals from throughout the world learn about Illinois through the Museum's award-winning website.
Office of Architecture, Engineering and Grants - Improved Quality of Life of Citizens/Improved Efficiency and Stability
Manages and executes the IDNR capital program through construction projects and grants to local governments, administers and coordinates $44 million in recreational/matching grant programs facilitating construction, development, and land acquisition to spur local economic development and tourism.
World Shooting and Recreational Complex - Economic Well-being of Citizens
The world’s largest and most prestigious shooting event, the Amateur Trapshooting Association’s Grand American Trapshooting Championship is hosted at the Complex. Significant economic engine for the southern Illinois, generating approximately $25 million in annual revenue to the regional economy.
Office of Community Outreach - Quality Education/Protection of our Most Vulnerable Citizens
Provides outreach to African-American and Latino populations, concentrating on youth programming, for increased understanding of urban conservation and environmental education. ‘IL Sportsmen Against Hunger’ has provided 2.7 million meals to needy citizens of Illinois and the ‘Target Hunger Now!’ program has fed more than 1,000 people and donations to these programs have increased by 20% over the past year. Mud to Gardens helps provide a sustainable and healthy local food source to combat urban food deserts. Wounded Warriors provides hunting and fishing experiences for armed services members who have returned with injuries.
Office of Resource Conservation - Economic Well-being of Citizens/Improved Quality of Life of Citizens
Manages the state’s fishing, hunting, wildlife watching, trapping, commercial forestry and fisheries, endangered and threatened species, and natural heritage protection programs. Programs are supported largely through license revenues, and the investment in Illinois of millions of dollars in federal fish and wildlife restoration program funds, federal wildlife grants, and USDA land conservation (CREP) funds. Directs multi-agency assessment and response to the Asian carp invasion in the Chicago Area Waterway System minimizing the need to close shipping locks and preserving the economic viability of billions of dollars of trade of the commercial and industrial uses of the canal system; also supports development of commercially viable Asian carp products.
Office of Realty and Environmental Planning - Economic Well-being of Citizens/Improved Quality of Life of Citizens
Manages all IDNR land acquisition and other property interests; negotiates and administers more than 1,500 concessions, land leases, rights of way, special permits, utility licenses and other agreements covering all owned or managed IDNR properties. 14,000 economic development projects are reviewed to ensure no adverse impacts to threatened and endangered species, wetlands, historic and cultural resources to facilitate hundreds of millions of dollars in economic growth statewide. Provides planning for greenways and trail sites, capital budget and land review, and park road projects which have economic development and tourism benefits in urban and rural communities. Protects public safety by evaluating and responding to pollution on IDNR-owned land, as well as assessing injuries and performing restoration on lands and waterways held in trust for the State.
Office of Strategic Services - Economic Well-being of Citizens/Quality Education and Opportunity
Facilitates IDNR’s most significant economic impact through license and permit sales generating $40 million for the State, special events attracting hundreds of thousands of tourism visits, and management of educational programs. $2.1 billion is annually spent in Illinois on hunting and fishing, enough to support 22,000 jobs and a $700 million annual payroll. Distributes 1.5 million pieces of natural resources teaching tools to educators.

Journals still exist from other early explorers such as Zebulon Pike and Joseph Nicollet. In 1836, Nicollet described Leech Lake: "The perimeter of the lake is at least 160 miles. Twenty-seven rivers empty into in coming from every direction on the horizon. One river flows from it to join the Mississippi: its name is Leech Lake River. There are nine large bays...and six large capes...The population exceeds 1,000 inhabitants, more than 200 of which are warriors." Around 1880, Minneapolis was the largest producer of flour in the U.S., and the federal reservoir system provided the constant flow of water over St. Anthony Falls that kept the lumber and flowing mills going. The Army Corps of Engineers began construction on the Leech Lake Dam in 1882, as only the second dam built in the federal system...and also with the system's largest span, approximately 3,500 feet bank to bank. The water level was raised four to seven feet, connecting five to seven lakes and creating Leech Lake as it is today. Leech Lake History The Leech Lake Area, Cass County and the cites of Walker, Federal Dam and Whipolt have intriguing histories. The Very Beginning: Walker, MN, is built on the remains of a glacier that 10,000 years ago stopped at the western edge of an ancient valley. As the glacier receded, it left three ridges that give Walker its hills. The bedrock beneath Walker and the surrounding area is among the oldest on earth--at least three billion years. The Early Years: The Ojibwe (Chippewa), more properly called Anisinabe (First Man), moved from the northeast into Sioux territory in the early 1700's. Historical writings refer to the tribes as "natural enemies." Territorial disputes caused many battles, and the Sioux were finally driven into the Dakota Territory. French explorers were the first white men into the area. Moving westward from Lake Superior and south from Canada, they discovered the fur trading wealth awaiting them. Early 1800’s Trading Posts By 1785, the Northwest Company had established a trading post on Ottertail Point, adding another on Mound Point (now Oak Point) the following year. More and more posts were established in the early 1800's. Years passed, and the expanding New World brought settlers, lumberjacks and tradesmen. By 1895, a small settlement had begun in the area of Leech Lake. In 1896, it would be incorporated under the name "Walker." That same year--on August 8--the first excursion train pulled in. The first tourists had arrived. The Battle of Sugar Point However...the area was still young, and, though largely ignored by history (quite likely because the Indians won), the last true Indian battle--the Battle of Sugar Point--was fought in October, 1898. The roots of the conflict are all too familiar. Indian lands and burial grounds had been destroyed as "progress" moved westward. Only meager compensation was awarded and subsequent moneys somehow never reached the Tribe members. Two years earlier "Old Bug" (Bug-ona-gee-sting), one of the chiefs of the 200 or so Pillagers who lived around Leech Lake, had been arrested by a U.S. Marshal on less-than-specific grounds and taken to Duluth. Charges were dropped for lack of evidence, and the 60-year-old Pillager walked the hundred miles home in icy wind and deep snow, vowing never again to be taken by a white man. In September 1898, he reported to the Onigum Agency to pick up his annuity payment, and was arrested on a bench warrant by a Deputy Marshal. Old Bug called out for help, and 22 Pillagers came to his rescue. They escaped to Bear Island. Warrants were issued for all involved. Twenty soldiers were sent from Fort Snelling to Walker to "chat" with Tribal members. When the Pillagers refused to talk, another 80 troops were sent to Walker. Once again, the Natives declined to meet. On October 5th, officers and newsmen climbed aboard two steamers, one of which pushed a barge filled with troops. They found Bear Island deserted and moved on to Sugar Point. After a difficult landing that required the barge be poled to shore, the troops found Old Bug's cabin empty. Around them in the forest, circling quietly on the frosty ground, were 19 Natives carrying Winchester rifles. The tired troops were ordered to Stack Arms, but one recruit failed to engage the safety on his weapon. The gun fell and discharged. Thinking they'd been discovered, the Natives opened fire. Major Melville Wilkinson, the commanding officer, was hit three times, the final abdominal wound taking his life. The Natives also fired on the steamers, and the boats headed back toward Walker. The remaining troops at Sugar Point entrenched themselves around Old Bug's cabin. The next day, one of the steamers approached but was driven off by gunfire after only one wounded soldier could be evacuated. That evening, 214 members of the Minnesota National Guard arrived in Walker by train, bringing with them a Gatling Gun. The morning of the 7th, however, the reinforcements headed for Bear Island met the once-trapped soldiers on the way. The Pillagers had allowed them to leave aboard the barge. The Battle of Sugar Point was over. Seven soldiers had been killed, another 16 wounded. There were no casualties among the 19 Natives. Though generally forgotten on a national scale, the Battle of Sugar Point was the catalyst for a chain of events that eventually led to U.S. Forest Service oversight of national forest lands all over the U.S....as well as the creation of a massive national forest on land ceded by the Chippewa in 1889. It is now known as the Chippewa National Forest. Progressing to Today’s World The last vestige of the old century was followed by a new century of building, this included lodges, hotels, resorts, campgrounds, steamboats, sternwheelers, dance pavilion and floating resort, excursion boats, timber boats (one of which was a 135 feet long), roads, canals, dams, libraries, schools, and churches. This progress has continued right up to the shops, stores, restaurants, theaters, casinos, marinas, national forest, state parks and so much more you can find in the Leech Lake Area today. The ancient Egyptians' teachings present the soul as having the ability to hover outside the physical body in the Ka, or subtle body and this is present in many of their artifacts. A common belief is that the subtle body is attached to the physical body by means of a psychic silver cord.This is mentioned in the bible too:"Remember your Creator before the silver cord is snapped" - Ecclesiastes 12.6This is a salutary message to remember our place in things (as creations) before our Creator and before it’s too late and the cord has snapped, which means that our earth experience is over and our souls fly home to whatever awaits us.I personally believe wholeheartedly in the silver cord. I have not seen it but I have definitely felt it.It acts as a sort of spiritual umbilical cord keeping our subtle body connected to the physical. When death occurs it dissolves allowing us to return in the subtle body to the place of similar vibration. During out of body travel it stretches and there is basically no distance in the spirit world as such so it never becomes over taxed.Astral projection is a skill that can be learned although many never achieve it after many years trying but with me occurs spontaneously. We all do it but only some are able to experience it consciously. It is a very subjective subject.Due to its esoteric nature it is very hard to prove or disprove as all we have is the evidence of those who do it and speak about it and of course the multitude of ancient writings and works of art regarding it.I consider it a gift and one that was given me in order to help me understand many things that would aid me in my healing practice by allowing me to see the ‘many layers of being’ first hand. These experiences have enabled me to live my life in wonder and awareness of how incredible the universe is and to feel an integral part of it deep in my spirit.To anyone who has an interest there are now many books and articles concerning it. There are also of course scientific articles explaining it away as they do in scientific terms. It’s up to the individual to decide for themselves. All I can say is that once experienced there is no need to disprove it as the knowledge of the reality of it now lives within you. Early InspirationsI would like to mention Dione Fortune who wrote the book (among others) 'Through the Gates of Death.' She greatly influenced my early studies and Sylvan Muldoon and Hereward Carrington who collaborated on the book 'The Projection of the Astral Body' Brave pioneers in an age that dismissed such things as either deluded or even the work of the demonic. I owe them a debt for allowing me to understand that this phenomena is shared and acknowledged.In the early days before the Mind Body and Spirit sections were to be found in bookstores, they were a huge comfort to a schoolgirl who needed answers back then. I think my greatest influence was T Lobsang Rampa whose book 'You Forever' was a guiding light on my inner development and helped tremendously with my understanding.Strangely enough, I have recently been brought into contact one way or the other, with several people of late, who testify that their early interest was founded by this man who was widely derided in his day but who has become it seems to many, the fore runner of what I feel will be a very much more frequent occurrence to many as we are waking up to our true spiritual nature.TopAstral TravelAstral travelling is when the dream body inhabiting the consciousness of the individual travels on the astral plane. The astral plane is the nearest plane of existence to the physical realm but a slightly higher vibration.It is inhabited by many different beings and is composed of several different layers. Earth bound spirits inhabit the lower realms and, according to different belief systems is also the home of angels, spirits and other devic kingdoms.I write about my observations below in Travelling in the Astral Plane.TopPersonal Beliefs regarding Astral Projection and Other States of BeingI write here about my own experiences which may differ from another’s. In this state I become slightly detached from everything around me and otherwise engaged in a sort of reverie. It is a welcome state of detachment from everything. It is like a subtle drawing away from ordinary reality to enter a ‘daydream’I surmise it is a very sudden shift in brain wave patters into the 'alpha' state and that is the ideal state to create in the mind images that with constant positive re-enforcement will be drawn to our physical reality. See 'Creating Your Reality' and 'The Power of Manifestation'.I went through school like this…accused of being a ‘dreamer’. Well, that I am and happy to be so.TopLucid Dreaming StateThis is very similar to astral travelling. The paradox of consciousness while sleeping. It is waking up fully conscious in a dreamscape and knowing you are dreaming and that everything you are seeing is the dream world. I recommend 'The Paradox of Consciousness During Sleep' by Celia GreenTo wake up fully conscious in what you know is the dream world is the most amazing experience and for me at least, accompanied by feelings of intense wonder. I am able to converse with others I meet in full awareness that my physical is lying on a bed somewhere but I do not know where. There is no anxiety about how to get back, in fact the sense of euphoria is at times incredible and one wonders if this is how the soul feels once liberated from the earth plane. If so, there is nothing to fear about death and it makes me understand that the grief we feel for the departed is essentially selfish in the real meaning of the word, for being free of the physical vehicle is freedom unknown in this reality.TopSleep ParalysisThis is a very frightening state until I got used to it. For someone who suffers from claustrophobia at the best of times..to feel confined within my own body was akin to being in hell. It was only after countless occurrences that I gradually became aware that I would always come out of it. (The terrible fear is that people think you are either sleeping, unconscious or at the very worst...dead)Sleep paralysis involves waking up inside my body so that although fully awake my body is still sleeping. During normal sleep there are episodes of paralysis so that we are unable to act out our dreams. Sleep disturbances such as sleep walking occur when there is a failure of this natural paralysis to occur and people then walk about and function while fast asleep. Sleep paralysis is almost the reverse. It is well documented and the text books talk of it being accompanied by hallucinations. These are referred to as either hypnogogic or hypnopompic depending on whether they occur on falling asleep or walking.Now, I am very aware that most people experience strange things at these times as we are on the threshold of sleep and dreams and reality can sort of merge at this point.What I am talking about is very different and I have a very different belief as to what is happening.My Experiences with Sleep ParalysesThis started very soon after my first out of body experience and continued in increasing frequency for the next 30 years. I often wanted to see a doctor about it but there was very little information at the time and besides...I felt that I would not be taken seriously.I had been encouraged to go to the family doctor after my first out of body experience and was told it was a hallucination caused by the stress of having left home to pursue my nursing career. I soon realised that conventional medicine and my esoteric happenings were parallel lines and to keep my experiences to myself. What is is actually?Sleep paralyses is the condition of being caught half in and half projected into the astral. It can be the doorway once understood and developed to true freedom and astral projection. Unfortunately, the level of terror many feel, stops the ability and attracts those in the astral to be attracted to that level of vibration so the inability to move, couples with the spiritual awareness of other realms (and not nice ones) can mean that many are subjected to frequent recurrences as 'what we resist, persists'.We have nothing to fear but fear but until and unless those afflicted are able and brave enough to understand exactly what is happening they can be caught in a loop. I recently watched a video of a young woman plagued by this seeing a sleep specialist who nodded sagely and told her all about how this was all due to a dysfunction of REM sleep. Now, while he was essentially correct, as it is....I very much doubt if he has experienced it himself...and the reassurance while maybe helping in the short term, will not actually help, when yet again, she may wake with something sitting on her chest or interfering with her. (Incubus and Succubus)If she was to take the path of self empowerment, she would no longer be a sitting duck for attacks of this kind. I say again, we live in a multi dimensional universe and the spirit worlds (all of them) are all around us always.TopVisitations (When Worlds Overlap)I use the term 'visitations' to cover broadly all the phenomena that I would experience when in sleep paralysis.In sleep paralysis my body is asleep but my consciousness is fully awake so I am trapped inside my body. I can hear everything going on in the outside world; cars starting etc (partner snoring, normal things.) I can also have a very good idea what the time is etc…but. I am also in a different vibrational rate in my energy body and so I am able to be aware of the spirit realm but much more important …. They seem to be aware of me.I do not fully understand the mechanism involved. I only we know we all carry a ‘cosmic signature’ that speaks for our level of development. This is also accompanied by a light vibration. So, although we can appear to the spirit realm as we see ourselves here…we also have something way beyond human comprehension.This takes the form of some sort of design and light and it is that image or energy that speaks for us in those realms. This is very esoteric stuff that is given to me and may be hard to understand by many. However, I know it to be as true as I can. It is the means by which ‘like attracts like’ in the spiritual worlds.Those carrying more light will always attract the ‘moths’ of the astral and so need to be very aware of such things.Again, I do not feel this to be the place to go into this subject deeper but I hold my observations as valid and again in keeping with ancient findings. My Personal ExperienceIn this state I have been visited many, many times by those inhabiting that dimension. This is out with the scope of this article.It is widely experienced worldwide in every culture and to those who want to know more I suggest looking upsubjects under what is often referred to as the Old Hag Syndrome.http://www.castleofspirits.com/sleep paralysis.htmlSleep paralysis and the accompanying phenomena is experienced by about 15 percent of the population at least once. It is strongly linked to sleep disorders and there are supposed scientific explanations for it none of which really fits if experienced repeatedly from a personal level.To me they are simply the merging of realms due to the brainwave patterns allowing access to that environment and one step away from astral travel. In other words...that realm comes to me as opposed to me going to them.These visitations have been ranging from curious to what I felt to be demonic.When they started they usually involved someone coming into my room and sitting on my bed. I would feel the bed going down under their weight and they seemed to be intensely interested in me. They would sometimes pull back the quilt to get a better look and I would feel the cold air as the covers came back. It would be really scary as I would not be able to make any movement so as to alert them that I was aware of their presence, and of course did even know who "they" were or what they looked like so I would have to try not to panic while trying to break the paralysis by sheer will alone.The atmosphere would range from a very different feeling of tension to downright malevolent. I have also been physically attacked in this way. I can attest to the fact that the phenomena has intelligence as on one terrifying occasion when I started to pray inwardly my neck was compressed and I felt as though I was in a battle for my life....Whatever it was could tell what I was thinking. Spiritual EmpowermentShortly after this experience I was 'baptized in the Holy Spirit' and received the 'gift of tongues' and this has empowered me spiritually and I consider it a wonderful thing to have.These visitations have involved most of the senses from sensory to auditory. (I am talking about visitations here while trapped in the physical...a different state of being to being free and fully functioning in my astral body.)I am convinced of the existence of parallel realities too."There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,Than are dreamt of in your philosophy."~ Hamlet, scene v ~TopTravelling in the Astral PlaneAstral travelling is one step further from astral projection. It occurs when the astral counterpart, either by will or by seeming random occurrence, finds itself functioning in another world. The astral plane can be similar to this one or it can be very different.There is a train of thought that states that there is an astral counterpart for everything we see here. I think that is definitely the case.I am not sure where I go ...seems like there are many different places you can land. ;-)What is it like?However, to my experience there are worlds within worlds...so there are places inhabited by beings that bear no relationship to anything we see here on earth. I have seen mythological creatures that convinced me that the human condition has tapped into those realms since earth life began...and so explains the similarity of beliefs in angels, fairies, gnomes, mermaids, unicorns etc in all continents dating back into antiquity.I also believe that we can travel both back in time and forward. I am not sure how I appear in some places. Some are populated with strange people and if I feel scared I try to keep my head down and not appear too obviously just a visitor!Seemingly solid objects can be gone through but there is always a feeling of resistance so it is not like the commonly seen films of ghosts drifting through walls. It's a multi-sensory experience that can take a dreamlike quality to it (although fully lucid) or it can be as real and as ordinary as here with ordinary looking people.Due to the subjective nature of it all and the fact that there does seem to be some kind of filter mechanism involved it can be difficult to empress it in terms that those who have never experienced it can appreciate.I will say that it is almost always accompanied by wonderful intense feelings, ranging from wonder to joy and unrivalled freedom.I am fully aware of being in another world and am also fully aware that my body is lying in bed somewhere but I have not got a clue where that place is in relation to where I find myself. I am never aware of travelling as such...only of being somewhere totally different.Sometimes it comes about by "waking up" from a dream to find myself fully conscious in a dreamscape. This is lucid dreaming and although its is almost the same as astral travelling it seems to be more difficult to maintain. The waking up is often when in a dream I notice something that is incongruous like seeing two moons in the sky for instance.So I say to myself "that is not earth" and before I know it I am awake and conscious in the dream world.This is so filled with wonder and joy that its almost impossible to maintain for very long and you feel yourself slipping back into a normal dream state.Take what resonates or discardI realize that by writing about these things there will be some who many doubt my sanity lol but I know there are also countless others who will say "Yes I have experienced that too!"In ALL things of this nature it is crucially important to practice discernment!That is a feeling in the gut area that something is true or not even if we have not personally experienced it. For instance, I read many strange things, especially now with the explosion of New Age information. Much of it I hold aside...It may seem fanciful but I reserve judgment. In other words I have a very open mind and for that I am very grateful. However, I still practice discernment and so discard much too.There are various techniques suggested by others to try to maintain lucidity including looking at your hands or spinning round but I find it difficult to maintain for very long. Astral travelling is more intense and more describes a period of being fully functional in another realm.For me I have to say it’s a spontaneous happening. I have not yet managed to do it by will but I am able to project my subtle body intentionally.I have had very negative experiences too but the thing to remember is that nothing can actually harm you.Taking Control and Healing YourselfIt is a malleable world where confronting a supposed threat can in fact change its form to something quite different. A bit like learning the ability to take control of dreams and turn and face your pursuer.In this way we are making changes in the world of the subtle bodies (for a part of us exists simultaneously in all realms) So much healing is taking place by conventional medicine when it has filtered down to the slow vibration of the physical so we are effectively "locking the stable after the horse has bolted". If we become empowered to confront our fears in dreams or astral travelling, we stop trouble at source so to speak.Portals and awareness of their relevanceThe internet is a real advancement of earthly knowledge now (and also a portal for huge evil) but I am talking about things that were part of the indigenous oral tradition of tribes before anyone went anywhere (in this world! ;-) )Portals are doorways into other dimensions. A computer is a modern one and it pays to be aware of that. How many times do you read something or see something and have a visceral response? The amount of negativity by way of violent images, porn where woman are degraded for sexual thrills and even the depressing news is all affecting our levels of vibration and can become trapped in our energy and affect us adversely.It is much more than feeling depressed or shocked etc...The Chakra system and their relevanceThere are also several different realms and I cannot say how many but esoteric knowledge says 7 which corresponds to the 7 main chakras in the subtle energy body each one connected to that level of vibration and therefore that place of being. It is far too vast a subject to tackle here so I will keep it simple.The Bible mentions several heavens and although I admit I am no scholar of the Koran I am told it mentions the seventh heaven.I do believe that mankind has advanced and ascended in direct connection to our chakra system and this is very esoteric knowledge again but the base chakra deals with connection to the earth and belonging and survival. I am told this was mankind's original level in pre historic days of hunting, gathering and basic survival.The heart chakra is the 4th chakra in the subtle energy body. It is the meeting place of heaven and earth (the higher energy centers connected to the spiritual realms and the lower centers connected to the physical)A couple of years ago I was given a vision of the heart chakra and our true natures - see poem Revelation Of Our True Being.It is my understanding that mankind is ascending up the vibrational system which corresponds to our subtle energy anatomy. We are indeed children of the universe and we are indeed The Microcosm inside The Macrocosm.As mankind evolves we move up the chakra system in the subtle bodies and are given the increased vibrational rate to function and be aware of all those who inhabit that level of being.This is happening now.....and we are moving up and out of the physical reality into the higher spiritual realms. (The age of Aquarius).In order to do this we are being challenged on many fronts...not least in the material realm of finance.Again a whole subject. I only want to present to the reader a different perspective on what is happening globally as we speak.There are many momentous challenges facing us now as a global village. Hurricanes, floods, volcanic eruptions plague, pollution in ratio to the corruption and greed being exposed by banks, big pharmaceutical companies and the elite who have maneuvered much of the things happening in the world now not to mention the total exposure of the widespread corruption and lies in the Catholic Church about child abuse.It would be easy to become very depressed or hopeless about it all. However, I totally believe that all this is cleansing on a global level. The old ways are being shattered to allow new energy in to this broken world.But I was told many times by my guidance to “Not look right or left” I take that to mean to ignore the fear mongers or even to hold fear within. I believe we are being supported in the invisible realm.My esoteric awareness has both deepened my wonder and awe at the incredible magnificence of creation, It has also birthed in me a real love of my true home in the universe.I am a child of the universe...and so are you!Brainwave Patterns and AwarenessI have experienced many different states of consciousness. I know they are directly related to brain wave function as different brain wave patterns allow access to different states of being.This is how Shamans travel to other worlds on the beat of a drum or ‘wind horse’ as they often call it. The rhythmic beating at certain rapidity causes what is called ‘brain entrainment’ where the brain waves change rhythm to beat along with the drum. In this way the shaman gets access to other states of being. The brain is no more than a sort of body computer and one that is instrumental in changing patterns to allow access to other realities.For over 37 years now I have experienced varying stages of disassociation of my subtle body and so have had a very long time to study these phenomena and make some sense out of it.My observations and my conclusions are my own of course but I have found that they tie in with most of what I have read of other’s experiences and also the major world religious beliefs.I understand now that what the old world wrote about and painted are real.I was going to say not the contents of someone’s imaginative mind…but that would not be strictly true as everything that we need and all that we are and hope to be lies in the realms of the spiritual. In this way they are so far removed from the physical realm of understanding as to make them ‘imaginary’. I know they are not.Astral Vision, Recovering Wisdom and The nature of MatterMy vision while in the astral is at times altered to become very acute but can become almost tunnel vision so I am able to examine things very closely but almost as though looking through binoculars the wrong way round.There is a feeling it comes, as though the senses are mixing so you can ‘feel’ texture without touching, everything is alive with life force and you are aware of totally being one with everything. I am so aware that I am in another dimension and so want to bring back knowledge that the very intention seems to alter the visual capacity. I have marveled at wood carving so intricate that I have never seen anything like them here. I have seen places and buildings and marveled at them while at the same time pondered over where they are in relation to earth.Akashic RecordsI get frustrated at many things. I often see a large book. And when I see it and read it I become elevated and consumed with the desire to take the information back to waking consciousness.I am also aware I have read this book many times before throughout my life.This may or may not be what is referred to as The Ahaskic Record' Many have claimed to have the ability to visit them at will (Dion Fortune) All major religions speak of a large collection or book, scroll that holds the all knowledge of human experience and the history of the entire cosmos. If you want to learn more it is worth Googling it.That demonstrates the level of lucidity I experience. It all makes great sense…but sadly it becomes like the cloth from Tutankhamen's tomb…those ancient things dissolved in the sun and atmosphere of the present and I take it from that that there are things I am allowed to see and understand…but only there, not here. Yet.What I have noticed however, is that although many laws which govern the material world no longer apply (gravity), others come into play.The ability to fly, to walk through walls and also to change the circumstances by thought alone. It is a malleable world where the power of the mind holds sway. That again is confirmation to me of the relevance of the imagination and also the power of creative visualization in this realm.I will say though that when going through objects such as walls and what we see as ‘solid’ I feel an initial resistance and that the going through holds that feeling …so it is not like drifting through things as though they had no form. This again makes perfect sense to me, as different states of vibration have different fields of energy so that in the astral (which is only one stage up from here) we can still feel some resistance that in the higher realms are totality removed from this.The universal law of 'Like attracts Like still exists and that has been a major lesson for me also. I have been to some places I would not ever want to return to and so my intention has to remain good.In fact in everything The Intension is crucial. Nowhere does that knowledge come home to roost more than there.It has made me reassess my views on hell and again my thoughts are removed from writing about it here.I have met and conversed with other people and asked whether they are permanently in that reality or are they sleeping too? I am gradually able to see the difference between those who inhabit a place and those who are in their dream body too.Astral attraction, love and sexI have also noted that intense feeling can bring those inhabiting dream bodies together.Any shared feeling, if the passion or depth of yearning is of the same vibration, can bring those people into contact with one another in a dream location.Sexual contact is real. There are those held in the lower vibration of the astral (though finer than here. Still low in relation to the other realms) Those who feel a real compulsion for many different reasons….and sexuality being a major part of life is no different.I could write much more about this and feel I will do in times to come... but we can meet and converse with 'dead' relatives and also loved ones still living in this strange environment.I am not a medium and I do not contact the dead intentionally...but I have seen and spoken to most people I knew who have gone through transition and never in an intentional way.I look on this as confirmation of my great conviction of the eternal life of the spirit and do not seek them out in any way, shape or form.That to me is not advisable and a sort of 'retrograde' motion spiritually speaking. If they come? they come of their own volition, and I am the most grateful recipient of anything they want to tell me but I never ever seek them out.(This is very different from spirit guides who have put themselves forward in service. I have great respect for my invisible helpers and hold them in very high regard. They are not the subject of cheap thrills round an Ouija board, they are wonderful beings who give of themselves to serve humanity)I do not have all the answers, I only can speak of what I have experienced personally.TopMind States and RealmsI also feel we can change how we appear there too, depending on our state of mind. I have found both my 'dead' father and also my 'dead' dog ignoring me or even refusing to acknowledge me on one occasion.. (I usually find such meetings intensely wonderful and moving. )I take this to be that my appearance was not what they expected on that occasion. (Be ever mindful of the thoughts you hold as these affect your vibration)These are great mysteries and the last frontier in esoteric knowledge which I feel is on the point of being made available to all.TopParallel Realities, Visitations and RelevanceIn the last short time I have experienced a huge surge forward in experience. To recap:I have had visitations while not able to act (sleep paralysis),I have experienced Lucid dreams,I have been aware of astral travelling and tried to pin point the relevance and deeper understanding for the human condition,I have journeyed Shamanically to try to see a deeper reason for affliction and pain in myself and others.Now I am aware of a quantum leap in awareness and connection.The Bible tells us "Seek and You Will Find".TopSummaryI never came across anything that made my faith any less. I never experienced anything that said we are anything less than God’s Children bonded by incarnation.I never saw anything that spoke of ‘one up-manship’ or being a ‘channel for the light’I only saw great wonder in mystery and that we are eternal beings who are governed by the vibration we hold. (good is high, bad is low and therefore the places we go, the things we see and experiences we have, are governed by our minds and our thoughts,Great power exists in thought.What we think becomes reality on the earth plane. in the astral worlds that becomes instant. There is huge debate about heaven and hell and I am not going to put forward my personal thoughts in detail at this time.What I will say is that "Like Attracts Like" even more so there.I try to take my thoughts captive and elevate my thinking albeit against my lower nature at times! ;-)Prayer is real. valid and powerful both there and here.Intention is everything. The desires of our hearts will attract that which we think we want. That can be a very great curse unless we become awakened to our spiritual natures.The recent release of the film ‘The Secret’ was a watershed for me. I have lived and breathed the message in this for many years. I know deep in my soul that mankind is ascending to a higher vibration.There is huge poverty of the spirit in those governed by scientific thought alone. Those who see the world through the limited senses given to us by the Greater Power are like fools who judge everything according to their own arrogance. Like a puppet that becomes superior to its carver, they think they know it all.I see also many in the New Age movement who also are guilty of becoming trapped in their own illusion.There are traps and minefields everywhere both in the convicted zealots and in the new age movement. To begin to 'get real' means admitting we do NOT have all the answers while inhabiting flesh and bone.I write here from my heart and my soul truth about my own journey of Soul Awakening.I do not claim it to be so.. I only share my truth in the hope that it might make others who have experienced this too, feel less alone.I grew up in an age when such things were hardly spoken about and those who dared to give voice were considered “occultists” akin to being in league with the devil according to the church.Well I am speaking out now as someone who has lived my life in tandem with such things. The Quest for the Cookie:New to Affiliate Marketing
Welcome! Chances are, you’ve landed here because you aren’t quite sure how this whole affiliate marketing thing works. Maybe you’ve discovered Commission Junction while searching the web for online marketing solutions, or maybe you’ve heard of affiliate marketing but still don’t know: what is affiliate marketing? Thankfully, some good folks at CJ want to help you master the art of affiliate marketing and how to make more money online.
What is Affiliate Marketing?
Some people remember the 1990’s as a tremendous period of growth for grunge music and Jim Carrey films. While this is true, most people will probably tell you the 90’s were responsible for this big, beautiful, technology called the World Wide Web (aka the internet, the web, the vast digital ocean of information at our finger tips). And with any new technology or media, companies quickly realized they had a new opportunity to market their products and services to consumers via the millions of websites they visit every day.
With the emergence of search engines in the mid-1990’s, the internet ballooned into a massive e-commerce and information machine. Website owners were creating valuable content and providing tremendous benefits to their visitors, and these website owners wanted to be compensated for their hard work. Early forms of online advertising like CPM or fixed placement started seeing competition from emerging, more accountable forms of online advertising, like affiliate marketing. So, what is affiliate marketing?
Affiliate marketing at its very core is about relationships,a relationship between three parties:

In the world of affiliate marketing, an advertiser can be a company selling a product like electronics, airline tickets, clothing or car parts, or an advertiser could also be an insurance company selling policies. The most important thing to remember is that you are an advertiser if you are ready to pay other people to help you sell and promote your business.Find out more »

A publisher is an individual or company that promotes an advertiser’s product or service in exchange for earning a commission. Advertisers contractually agree to work with a publisher, then provide the publisher with creative – in the form of links, banner or text ads or even unique phone numbers – that the publisher incorporates into their website.Find out more »

The final component that completes the affiliate relationship triangle is the consumer. The consumer is the one who actually sees the ad and then makes an action (either by clicking a link or by submitting their information via a form) that takes them from the publisher’s website to the advertiser’s to complete the action, which we call a conversion.Find out more »
How Does Affiliate Marketing Work?
Let's face it: technology, especially the internet, can be pretty daunting to try to grasp, and with terms like malware, cursor and spam, it also seems pretty dangerous. So kudos to the guys who decided e-commerce and affiliate marketing should rely on an innocuous technology called a "cookie."

A cookie is a technology that works with web browsers to store information like user preferences, login or registration information, and shopping cart contents. Have you ever opted-in to have a website "remember" your password and username for one of your online accounts? That's a cookie. Ever notice while searching the web for "travel deals" and you suddenly start seeing travel display banners on other websites? Those ads are appearing for you because you've been cookied (it's okay, you won't get hurt).
In affiliate marketing, one task that cookies manage is to remember the link or ad the visitor to a website clicks on. Cookies can also store the date and time of the click, they can even be used to remember what kind of websites or content you like most. There are many different types of web cookies and uses, but the kind of cookie affiliate marketing relies on is called a first-party cookie.
When a user visits a publisher's website and clicks an advertiser's creative ad, the visitor's browser receives the CJ tracking cookie that identifies the advertiser, the publisher, the specific creative and commission amount. This data is stored within the link information in what are called "parameters" and can include even more anonymous data used for attribution.
The sample link below includes some of the identifiers Commission Junction uses to enable proper tracking and auditing of the affiliate marketing process: webservices.cj.com
PID: 5377085PID (publisher website ID) is used to identify the publisher's website. A CJ publisher may have multiple PIDs under one single CJ account (e.g. if you maintain multiple websites, you will have multiple PIDs).
AID: 10590299The AID (ad ID) is a number which identifies a specific link and enables CJ to track creative performance as well as credit the publisher when they earn a commissionable transaction. Because each link has a unique AID, it also allows CJ to identify the appropriate advertiser.
SID: 012-123SID (shopper ID) enables publisher to track where their referred actions originated so they can target and/or reward their unique shoppers. When the visitor makes a purchase or completes a lead form, that transaction is tracked and recorded by Commission Junction.
The CJ Network is capable of tracking and processing an enormous volume of actions and transactions. In 2011 alone, Commission Junction tracked a total of over 3 billion website visits, 175 million transactions and over $6 billion in online sales.

A cookie is a technology that works with web browsers to store information like user preferences, login or registration information, and shopping cart contents. Have you ever opted-in to have a website "remember" your password and username for one of your online accounts? That's a cookie. Ever notice while searching the web for "travel deals" and you suddenly start seeing travel display banners on other websites? Those ads are appearing for you because you've been cookied (it's okay, you won't get hurt).
In affiliate marketing, one task that cookies manage is to remember the link or ad the visitor to a website clicks on. Cookies can also store the date and time of the click, they can even be used to remember what kind of websites or content you like most. There are many different types of web cookies and uses, but the kind of cookie affiliate marketing relies on is called a first-party cookie.
When a user visits a publisher's website and clicks an advertiser's creative ad, the visitor's browser receives the CJ tracking cookie that identifies the advertiser, the publisher, the specific creative and commission amount. This data is stored within the link information in what are called "parameters" and can include even more anonymous data used for attribution.
The sample link below includes some of the identifiers Commission Junction uses to enable proper tracking and auditing of the affiliate marketing process: webservices.cj.com
PID: 5377085PID (publisher website ID) is used to identify the publisher's website. A CJ publisher may have multiple PIDs under one single CJ account (e.g. if you maintain multiple websites, you will have multiple PIDs).
AID: 10590299The AID (ad ID) is a number which identifies a specific link and enables CJ to track creative performance as well as credit the publisher when they earn a commissionable transaction. Because each link has a unique AID, it also allows CJ to identify the appropriate advertiser.
SID: 012-123SID (shopper ID) enables publisher to track where their referred actions originated so they can target and/or reward their unique shoppers. When the visitor makes a purchase or completes a lead form, that transaction is tracked and recorded by Commission Junction.
The CJ Network is capable of tracking and processing an enormous volume of actions and transactions. In 2011 alone, Commission Junction tracked a total of over 3 billion website visits, 175 million transactions and over $6 billion in online sales.

October 22, 2013Standing Firm in the Storms of LifePart 1Mary Southerland
Today's TruthWe have proved ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience, our kindness, our sincere love, and the power of the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 6:6, NLT).
Friend to FriendJust as storms in life are certain, so is the provision of God. Life can be messy, and bad things will happen. But every crisis and every storm is also an opportunity to trust God. He calls us to a heavenly perspective when facing challenging times. He calls us to see the storms of life as He sees them - opportunities for His power to be illustrated in human terms. What steps can we take to face the storms of life in a way that honors God?
Step one: Live a pure life.2 Corinthians 6:6 (NLT) "We have proved ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience."
The apostle Paul was certainly no stranger to storms. In his writings to the church at Corinth, Paul lists several actions we can take to survive and even thrive in those storms. Notice that purity is listed first. Paul is sending a clear message. Integrity and power for daily life are the result of a heart committed to purity. A clean heart unleashes the authority of God in us and through us. Impurity corrodes stability while purity generates a supernatural strength. It is that power and stability that keeps us from falling.
Psalm 51:10 (NASB) "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me."
The Psalmist links a pure heart with a steadfast spirit. "Steadfast" literally means "fixed or unchanging" and defines the kind of strength that can only be found in a right relationship with God. Stability is essential when those blustery winds of life storms are raging. Some storms come to uncover that cherished sin we try so hard to bury. If we refuse to deal with sin in our life, God will urge us toward obedience by allowing the storms to come. But make no mistake - the purpose of the storm is always to purify – and then empower.
Second truth: Seek understanding.2 Corinthians 6:6 NLT) "We have proved ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience."
Understanding is only as good as its place of origin. Human understanding is limited and tainted while Godly understanding is infinite and unspoiled. Our greatest lessons are learned in the fiercest storms. I know you have heard those words many times – but are they a living reality in your life?
A teacher was asked a question by one of his students who had come across Deuteronomy 6:6 that says, "These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts." The student asked, "Why does it say to put God's commandments upon our hearts instead of in our hearts?" The wise teacher responded, "It is not within man's power to deposit truth directly into his heart. All we can do is place truth on the surface of the heart so that when the heart breaks, it will fall in."
Every circumstance that results in brokenness is designed to produce greater self-control and a fresh perspective. We can face every storm with confidence, knowing that God will redeem it for understanding.
Third truth: Learn to be patient.2 Corinthians 6:6 (NLT) "We have proved ourselves by our purity, our understanding, our patience."
I must confess that I am not the epitome of patience. I hate to wait – on anyone or anything – which may very well explain certain storms and trials in my life. James had the same problem, but a much better attitude.
James 1:2 (NIV) "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance."
I tend to consider it pure joy when I can escape trials of many kinds, but James tells us that trials can and should be faced with patience and an attitude of joy. Not joy for the trials but joy in the trials. Don't miss this vital truth. Joy is a deeply rooted confidence that God is in control. Joy is a chosen attitude, and understands that trials are not punishment.
Take a $5.00 bar of steel. If you cut that bar into ordinary horseshoes, it is worth about $10.00. That same $5.00 bar of steel cut into needles is worth $350, but when cut into delicate springs for watches, that same $5.00 bar of steel is worth $250,000.
Trials are a test, a measurement of growth. Patience gives God permission to work. We go to great lengths to avoid trials and shelter ourselves from the storms of life. The result is spiritual immaturity.
God will not build our character without our cooperation, and He will not work in us without our permission. We must surrender, invite Him to work, and then, by faith, patiently embrace that work. Warren Wiersbe writes, "When God permits his children to go through the furnace, He keeps His eye on the clock and His hand on the thermostat."
Let's PrayThank You, Father, for Your faithfulness in my life. Sometimes my motives are not pure and are so often self-serving. Right now, please cleanse my heart of all sin. Give me eyes to see the treasure buried at the heart of every trial and help me to choose joy - even when I don't understand what You are doing in my life. Lord, let my life be an illustration of Your strength perfected in my weakness. In Jesus's name,Amen.
